8K Mountain Dog Run

MMC offers running with dogs for the 8K distance. 

Rules

  • Participants can run with one or a maximum of two dogs.
  • We require the use of an elastic band leash, no longer than 3 meters, and the dog(s) must always be attached to the runner. Flexi-leads are not allowed.
  • Large dogs must be at least 18 months old and small dogs at least 12 months old to participate.
  • Participating dogs must have sufficient veterinary care and be fit to participate in the distance and conditions applicable.
  • All dogs must have a valid vaccination against distemper, parvo, and infectious hepatitis. For first time vaccination, a minimum of 2 weeks must have passed since the vaccination date before the dog can participate. A valid vaccination card must be presented on request from the organizers.
  • The participant is responsible for ensuring that the dog has access to necessary water and nutrition during the race.
  • The participant is responsible for transport to the start for themselves and their dog(s).
  • Note: It is the participant's direct responsibility to ensure that the participating dog(s) are fit to start the race. If in doubt, consult a veterinarian.
  • All participants take part in the race at their own risk. The organizer is not responsible for theft or damage.

It is important to have trained running with the dog(s) beforehand so that both the runner and the dog(s) master the technique and handle the distance. 

There are water sources along the course. 

MMC 8K Mountain Dog Run starts at Teveltunet and is a round of almost 8 km over the idyllic mountain Steinfjellet. The terrain is gently sloping down from the top, while the steep section is on the way up. There is a total of 500 meters of elevation gain along the course.

The start is at 11:45 on Saturday at Teveltunet. This is fifteen minutes before the ordinary runners start. See also the description for the MMC 8K.
