Other recommended and suggested equipment

Remember, an item unused is better than an item that is missing when you really need it! The following items are suggestions for additional gear you should consider:

  1. Vaseline and anti-chafing remedies
  2. First aid remedies such as band aid, antiseptic wipes, adhesive tape, elastic bandage, sterile gauze pads etc.
  3. In case of sunny and warm weather:
    i.    Sun screening
ii.    Sunglasses and/or caps to protect the eyes from bright sunshine
    iii.    Extra water supply
  4. In case of harsh, cold and wet weather: See ‘Cold weather kit’ for the 70K, 100K and 100M
  5. Credit card
  6. Cup for drinks and soup at the aid stations
  7. A spoon
  8. Hiking poles

NOTE: Runners who choose to use hiking poles, must carry them for the entire duration of the race. It is forbidden to start without poles and get them during the race. No poles are allowed in drop bags.

MMC encourages especially foreign runners, but also Norwegians, to wear nationality signs on their backpacks to indicate which country they come from.
