Info 31.07.2025

Everything is now ready to welcome over 500 runners and their supporters to Teveltunet and the trails in the Meråker mountains!

Safety
The weather forecast for the weekend has changed frequently, and the latest update suggests the possibility of both fog and thunderstorms in some areas. We will monitor the situation closely, and once the races have started, we rely on you to follow instructions from course marshals and keep your phone on (with sound notifications enabled) so you receive any messages sent via SMS.

We want everyone to have a great race experience while keeping safety a top priority. In the event of fog, runners may be required to move in smaller groups. In the event of thunderstorms, access to the mountain summits may be closed due to the risk of lightning strikes.

Crossing the E14:
Just before reaching Teveltunet, you will need to cross the E14 – a busy highway with a speed limit of 80 km/h. There is no pedestrian crossing at this point, and we ask you to exercise great caution when crossing the road. A marshals will be present during peak traffic hours, but they are not allowed to stop traffic – runners must yield.

Gear Requirements and Recommendations
There is no mandatory "cold weather kit", but we strongly recommend replacing your wind jacket with a rain jacket. Rain pants are also recommended. Imagine being stopped and having to wait because the next summit is temporarily closed due to thunderstorms.

Stay on the Marked Course
Please remember that it is mandatory to follow the marked course. This is especially important in marshes and soft terrain. You will be running through several nature reserves, and it's crucial that our presence has as little negative impact on the vegetation as possible—this is key to securing permission to hold MMC in future years.

Last-Minute Information
If any last-minute updates need to be communicated, they will be delivered in a race brief just before the start. Be sure to stay near the starting line during the final 15 minutes before your start time in case the starter has important information to share.

Sending Gear Back from the Start
If you are participating in a race that starts somewhere other than Teveltunet (21K, 42K, 70K, or 100K), you may send a bag back to Teveltunet from the starting area. This can include clothes or other items you bring to the start but do not want to carry during the race. Important: Make sure the bag is clearly labeled, durable, and securely closed. We've had issues with broken bags, unclaimed items, and lost belongings in the past. Do not send valuables this way—we cannot take responsibility for lost items.

Social Events
We hope many of you will join us for the pasta party on Friday from 18:00 and at least until 20:00. And of course, we hope you'll stick around after the finish on Saturday for the “after-run” with a BBQ buffet, open bar, and great atmosphere!

As always, if you have any questions, get in touch:

General Info to 2025 Participants

(NB: This text is sent as an email to all registered participants. Where references are given to attached files you must go to the download area and find the respective files there.)

Meråker Mountain Challenge is experiencing strong growth, and on the weekend of August 1–3 we’re excited to welcome you and hundreds of others to Teveltunet! To ensure a great experience for everyone, it’s important that you’re well-informed and prepared before you arrive.

There is important information available on our website: mmctrail.no. Read more about the different distances, accommodation packages, and logistics on the respective pages. If you have any questions, contact us via social media, or email:

  • General: post@mmctrail.no

  • Accommodation & meals: post@teveltunet.no

Routes, Checkpoints, and Schedule

Attached to this email is a spreadsheet named "Legs, CPs and time schedules.xlsx". It has been available for download for some time, but this is the latest version with some updates on where food, drink, and snacks will be served. In the spreadsheet you’ll find:

  • When you can collect your bib number for your distance.
Note: 100M participants can now collect their bib at Teveltunet Thursday evening from 18:00–21:00.

  • Start times and bus departure schedules from Teveltunet

  • Route tables showing leg distances, checkpoint food/drink availability, and facilities

Note that some checkpoints may have limited food/snacks/drinks. This year, clear signs will be posted where drinking water sources are available — make sure to use them. Always carry extra food in your pack.

Typical food and drinks available at aid stations include: Bread, salami, jam (squeeze bottles), gummy candy, chocolate, peanuts, raisins, butter, chocolate spread (tubes), crackers.
Drinks: Water and juice, and in some locations, energy drink from 226ers.

Note: Runners are not permitted to use the toilet at Angeltjønnhytta. For 21K runners, portable toilets will be available at Fjergen before the boat transfer. 21K runners are expected to be self-sufficient with food — food at Angeltjønnhytta and Huva is only for participants in longer distances.

Rules

This year, the 70K race is also the Norwegian Championship in trail ultra (NM). The race rules have been updated to be “NM-compliant”. The rulebook is available in a dedicated download section, and also attached to this email.
If you're not participating in the NM, you can skip everything NM-related and just read the local MMC rules.

Environmental Considerations

We place a high priority on sustainable and low-impact use of nature. Stick to marked trails. It may be tempting to run alongside muddy paths, but this causes more damage. Take one for the team and embrace the mud — you’ll get dirty anyway!

Parts of the course pass through Feren and Koltjønndalen nature reserves, where respectful behavior is particularly important.

  • Feren Nature Reserve is near the Guddingsvika checkpoint (70K, 100K, 100M)

  • Koltjønndalen is from Storkjølhaugen to approx. 2 km past Angeltjønnhytta
(Note: Angeltjønnhytta itself is not within the reserve)

Littering is strictly prohibited, including toilet paper.

Teveltunet

As tradition, there will be a pasta party at Teveltunet on Friday from 18:00–20:00. This is included for those with accommodation packages. Others can join by paying NOK 200 at the door. Many will also collect their bibs then, making it a great social opportunity to meet the organizers and fellow runners.

There will also be an after-run mini banquet on Saturday, which will pick up as more runners finish. There’ll be grilled food for sale, and drinks available at the bar. Both the pasta party and Saturday's gathering are open to everyone, not just the runners!

Sport 1 Selbusporten will have a stand at Teveltunet selling gear, gels, 226ers bars, etc.

Weather Forecast & Mandatory Gear

It's always worth keeping an eye on the weather forecast leading up to the race. Conditions can vary greatly along the route.
We recommend checking the weather for Teveltunet and key mountain points like Storkjølhaugen and Huva.

Mandatory gear is listed on the website, see: Equipment
If additional gear is required due to special weather conditions, you’ll be notified via email at least 24 hours before the race.

Reminder:

  • Emergency blanket is mandatory (a limited number are for sale at Teveltunet)

  • All participation is at your own risk

  • You are required to help anyone in distress

Notify Us

It’s very important that you inform us if you collect your bib but decide not to start, or if you withdraw during the race, or need to report an incident. This ensures we have control over who is out in the mountains and can respond effectively.

After bib pickup, notify us via phone:
📞 +47 902 47 602
(This number is also printed on your bib, marked "Race Emergency")

Final Notes

We offer transport between Meråker Station and Teveltunet for those arriving or leaving by train or bus. Arrange in advance by emailing: transport@mmctrail.no

Accommodation is still available — contact post@teveltunet.no

For any other questions, email us at post@mmctrail.no

Good luck with your final preparations — and welcome to Meråker soon!

PS; For those registered for 70K or 100K:

Please note that there was an instance on our website where incorrect information stated that there would be a drop bag location for the 70K and 100K distances at Angeltjønnhytta. This is not correct. There is no drop bag for the 70K, and the 100K has a drop bag only at the camp school near Nøstmo.

We apologize for the outdated information that remained on the site without our awareness. The error was only present on the Norwegian-language pages. We hope this does not cause any inconvenience for you!
