Changes for 2024
Published 18-July-2024
The race weekend for 2024 is approaching rapidly, and for those who have participated in previous years and might be on 'autopilot,' it's worth noting the most significant changes this year.
The most noticeable change is that the mountain festival will start on Friday instead of Saturday, due to the introduction of the new 100M distance, approximately 163 kilometers! This race starts at Teveltunet on Friday at 12 noon, which means the bib pickup is open from 9 AM on Friday. We will prioritize 100M participants until noon, but it will also be possible for others to pick up their bibs. Bib pick-up is open until 9 PM on Friday and opens again from 07:00 on Saturday.
There are some minor changes in the start times for the other distances. The 100K now starts at 4 AM on Saturday, half an hour earlier than in 2023. The 70K has a new starting point at Nøstmo, which means there will no longer be boat transport across Feren. The start time is also an hour earlier than before: 8 AM. The 42K starts as usual at 10 AM, but those running with dogs (canicross) now start at 10:15. Similarly, the 8K canicross starts at 12:15 - a quarter of an hour after the runners who start the 8K at noon.
The 21K is the most popular distance, starting from the Angeltjønn cabin. This entails a bit more logistical challenges, and there will be three buses and a minibus to handle transport from Teveltunet to Fjergen.. The first bus will leave from Teveltunet 9:50 AM. Then there will be boat transport across Fjergen starting from 10 AM. Participants in the hiking class can start as early as 8 AM, but they must arrange their own transport to Fjergen and across to the Angeltjønna cabin if they want to start that early. We haven't completely locked in the start for the competition class, but we're tentatively planning a mass start at 12:45 PM.
For canicross, we're trying to professionalize the races a bit more. Specific rules must be followed, and the start times are staggered compared to the regular runners.
Drop bags were introduced in 2023, but there is only one drop bag location this year. It will be at the camp school between Nøstmo and Litjvollen. The drop bag service is only available for those in the 100K and 100M distances.
Teveltunet will be more active than ever. There will be a kiosk/food sales, bar, live service, announcer service, a pasta party on Friday, and Selbusport'n will have a booth. The goal is for Teveltunet to be a pleasant place for both young and old to stay while waiting for friends and family who are out running!
