New drop bag services
Updated 15-Jul-2023
(please note that this news article was first published on the 19th of June, but has been updated on the 15th of July to reflect major changes)
Drop bags are quite common for long ultra-trail races, but so far the MMC has not had an organized drop bag service. This is about to change. The 2023 edition introduce one drop bag at Guddingsvika, and another at the Angeltjønna cabin.
The 100K runners will be offered an opportunity to have a drop bag waiting for them at Guddingsvika. This is approximately 38 km after the start. At this point the terrain changes in a major way, and some runners may choose to change their shoes at this point.
The race organizer has decided to include a possibility to have a drop bag also at the Angeltjønn cabin, and this service will also be given to the 70K participants. At this point, 20 km of the course remains.
More detailed information about how, where and when drop bags must be handed in will be given in a separate e-mail to the participants of the 70K and 100K distances. However, please note that the drop bags from the Angeltjønna cabin may not be available at Teveltunet when you arrive at the finish. If you choose to have a drop bag at Angeltjønna, you must be prepared to pick up the drop bag at Teveltunet on Sunday. This is due to logistical challenges, although we will do our best to return drop bags to the race administration centre as soon as possible.
